On this trip I tackle the Kirkpatrick Lake Loop with fellow RUclipsr, @toshselfpropelled and his dog, Cooper. This trip kicks our butt with long, unmaintained portages and hard to find campsites. This far north loop was extremely rewarding with some beautiful lakes I plan on revisiting some day. Hope you enjoy the video. 0:00 - That's the Trailer 0:55 - Let's Go! 3:30 - Day One Camp 4:50 - Day ...

This route builds on the Dunlop Loop, popularized by Kevin Callan's book, Ontario's Lost Canoe Routes. I catch my first ever trout and fumble my way through uphill portages. As usual, we make sure to eat well and have some laughs along the way. I hope you enjoy the video!

3 DAY CANOE, PORTAGE AND FISHING TRIP THROUGH KAWARTHA HIGHLANDS
What did you use for the floor liner?
Hey. I used a canvas tarp that I got from Amazon. Heavy but worked really well and didnt have to get boughs! Thanks for watching.
Another great adventure with an amazing video, Adam. The first couple of nights would be disappointing, Traveling so far north, one would believe, human impact on the nature would have been left behind. Thanks for taking us along. Cheers✌️.
Beautiful, is the Portage gone now from Mesomikenda to Dividing Lake? I remember seeing Explore the Backcountry running into issues at the end!
Looks like a great trip, nice to see something outside of Algonquin and the usual places. Very nice scenery.
Thanks buddy. Ya this place is far but very beautiful
Stunning videography!
Really appreciate that Lorri!!
Great video Adam. Making me miss Ontario river tripping more and more.
Thanks buddy!
Great little trip. I am also very picky when it comes to picking a campsite. Have a great 2024 camp season 😊
Sites were legit terrible for three guys with three tents. Ended up finding some decent ones in the end though. Thanks for watching!
Great video bud. Getting into a little fast water! Yeehaw.
I'm trying bud! Had a blast to be honest.
It's already May in 🇨🇦?
Lol no, this was from 2023. Just got around to editing it.
Great trip , just before bugs season , the best moment of all . I cant imagine trucks going throught that log road on the lake 😮 first time I see that too . Thanks for sharing
Yup. Timing was perfect. Thanks for checking it out!
Hey bro nice job. Nice to see the band back together. I see your beer tastes have advanced from the PBR🍻👍No ARE trip is complete without Spammiches😂
Respect recognizing the OG crew. Haha man a pbr sounds good right about now. Thanks for your support as always Wade.
Currently planning a very similar trip here presently for spring. Thanks for sharing, can’t wait to explore this myself. I explored Temgami for many years but never they west side. Any big trips planned for 2024? Cheers, Curtis
Hey buddy. This is a beautiful area. I've been through a few times and it's one of the few places i miss in the off season and think about returning to. I would definitely check this area out and give yourself plenty of time to explore. It's amazing. For this year I may actually go to temagami for a week long winter trip. Still in the planning stage. Nothing for the canoe planned yet. Have a good one. Thanks for checking it out
Great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful job buddy, I’m just watching it again for the second time. The train ride adds an extra element of adventure for sure. You guys absolutely earned those rest days.👊
Appreciate that Wade. Thanks for checking it out, again! The train is a wonderful service. I highly recommend it. Thanks for your support as always!
Just found your channel now, looking forward to watching all of your videos! Good timing, I'm off to do some winter camping tomorrow morning, always nice to see what tips I can pick up. All the best from Toronto.
Thanks for checking out my channel and appreciate your comments. Enjoy your trip and stay safe!
Really enjoyed the video . Definitely a lot more to winter camping than a canoe trip. thx for sharing.
Ya the gear is super important but I do love it! Thanks for watching!
Well done skippy. Breathtaking drone footage and perfect music choices to boot. Love it!
Thanks buddy
great vid Adam! Love the timelapse with the tent in the shot. How much did the green tent set you back?
Hey buddy. Thanks for checking it out. Sent you the tent. It's a good light weight option but the bigger options leave something to be desired. You can see the issues i had in high wind but overall I'm really glad I have it for solo trips. See you on the next one!
What a wonderful post Christmas treat! Great video.
Thank you Lorri! Appreciate your kind words.
Awesome trip and beautiful work filming it! You guys are so lucky to have real winter I'm stuck in perpetual melt in Nova Scotia this year 😂
Haha thanks man. Was expecting better weather for late January 8 hours north of Toronto but it is what it is! Thanks for watching buddy.
Great, rough video. I wish you good health and a calm mind in the New Year. Dav ruclips.net/video/SaqQFufmkeU/видео.html
My first video from you YT channel. Very nice work and I enjoyed it very much. Your videography is solid. Looking forward to checking out more of your videos. How about a suggestion on the next one? Merry Xmas.
Great video Adam. Awesome adventure and beautifully put together.
Thanks buddy. Appreciate it!!
Great trip - the work that goes into this is incredible, plus capturing it on film and never once being negative about how cold it is. Thanks Adam 😊
Appreciate that buddy. Most people don't realize the work, time and money it takes to make a trip video. Your comments and appreciation is what motivates me to get back out there. Thanks man!
very nice brother! felt like I was there with you.
Best compliment I could receive. That's exactly what I'm trying to achieve. Thanks for checking it out. Hope all is well, Mike! Happy holidays.
@@AdamRomanoExplores merry Christmas man!
Love it!
Thanks buddy!
@@AdamRomanoExplores I am begining in winter slay expedition, having my first trip 4 days in january. I learn a lot from these videos, and now have to test it for real.
Very cool trip!!
Thank you!!
Camping above freezing or with lots of snow is ideal. That point of low snow and frozen ground makes the tent stake scenario difficult. Good filming , editing ,natural sounds, speaking and music. Nice mix of modern equipment and some traditional gear. Nice expedition
Thanks for your kind comments. Really appreciate it! Thanks for checking it out!
Looks like a great time.
Amazing scenery, excellent video. New friend here.
Thanks for checking it out Dave, appreciate your comments!!
@@AdamRomanoExplores my pleasure
Nice video and good looking tent... in snow I have to add line to wall d-rings and wrap line around stick and bury in ground... yea, I've got a trip planed for BWCA at Canada border but little warm currently. hope to be there in a few weeks... 14 to 20 day trip for me solo...
Good looking tent indeed! Haha. Ya there was a lot of lessons learned on this trip but plan on taking this tent out in Jan/Feb. Hope you enjoy your trip. Thanks for watching!
@@AdamRomanoExplores Thanks and hope to see many more toboggan trips
A really enjoyable watch! I loved the drone shots especially. I'm curious what your thoughts are on your tent and stove setup? Thanks for putting this together, it gets me excited for winter camping season. Cheers Adam!
Pete, might you one day get back into RUclips videos?
Hey buddy. Thanks for watching. Pros and cons to this setup. It's small for long nights alone but its light and heats up really quick. I love this stove but -30C with a bigger tent and you'd still be cold. You can see the issues i had in high wind and this center pole tent setup. The video may not show it but I was worried about it blowing over as I couldn't get my snow anchors to sinter up quick enough. I purposely wanted to do everything solo to test myself but the snowtrekker went up much easier in high winds. This setup only weighed about 20lbs, pretty hard to beat that. Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@l214laus yup, I plan to have a new release in 2024, something a bit different from the norm.
It was worth the wait. What an amazing place! We always love your videography. Thank you for taking us along and sharing. 😍 Cheers Adam !✌️
Appreciate your kind words. Thanks for watching!
Wow!! Fantastic video. Enjoyed it very much. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the relaxing journey Adam.🏕️🌲☃️ Undoubtedly it was a lot of work for you😬 Happy Holidays🎁
Thanks buddy. Appreciate you checking it out. Have a Merry Christmas!
What a trip ! I like how you guys planned one day ahead by making trail so the slush would freeze at night , good thinking ! Great video , new sub here from Québec

Hey Cliff, no this was Jan 2023. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing with a SWOntario city slicker. Helps me think about planning my easy trip(s) up to TB next year.
Haha thanks for checking it out!
Great video...I’ve been contemplating this route for a few years. At the beginning of the video it appeared that one of drove a car to the access point at Toodee. I’ve heard nothing but bad thing about the road conditions...have that changed?
Hey buddy. Wasn't bad at all. I drove a Toyota matrix lol. Definitely check this route out. It's amazing but take your time, the portages we're pretty tough. Thanks for watching!!
This was a joy to watchd. Great filming and editing. Looking forward to your next one!
Thanks Kev appreciate that
That was incredible! I'm going to do this one day...
So happy to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.

Sorry buddy. I don't know too much about it. Thanks for watching.
@AdamRomanoExplores thanks for the reply really enjoyed your videos. I've hunted in that area for years now and always wondered what the story was about it. Looks like a moose camp perhaps, I thought it was all crown land there so it's interesting
@@kylemaurice4012 appreciate your comments. Ya I miss temagami like no other place to paddle. Trying to find some time to do a solo trip there this fall. Fingers crossed. Thanks again!
Reallllly nice edit man, looks like a great trip! Cooper will be missed dearly.
Thanks Nate. Means a lot. Appreciate you checking it out.
You have a great eye for setting up nice landscape and macro shots. Wish i had the patience for getting really nice timelapses 😅 I especially enjoy the astrophotography time lapses, they are stunning, what lens do you use for those shots?
Thanks Derek, appreciate that. I use a 14m Sigma lens f 1.8. love it for all my might shots. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful job my friend. The stunning visuals paired up with the music was perfect👊
Really appreciate that Wade. Thanks for watching and for your kind words. Hope your summer is going well! Talk soon.
Great trip brother! Thanks for bringing us along! Sorry to hear about Cooper.
Great vid fellas. Coop looked like he was pretty happy out there.
Thanks Jason.
As always a great video. I admire your photography and videography skills. I stayed at Blue Fox camp 2 years ago on Kirkpatrick Lake for a fishing trip, gorgeous country. You seriously earned your keep on this canoe trip, hard work for sure. I really enjoy Tosh’s channels as well, and losing Cooper is still heart-breaking I am sure. Thanks Adam 😊
Appreciate your encouraging comments buddy. It means a lot. Kirkpatrick is a really beautiful lake. The site we had was so nice. Another really nice lake that doesn't come across in the video was Crazy Lake. I want to go back and explore all the corners and pockets. Super cool lake. Thanks for watching and for the support!
Great video! Thanks
Thanks Stephen!
